What Are the Current Windermere Home Values?
Windermere is a small but prominent community in Central Florida, located in the Orlando-Kissimmee area. In fact, Windermere is perhaps best known for its celebrities, as many famous athletes, musicians and actors call Windermere, Florida home.
Windermere is actually a very small town, with just over 3,100 residents in approximately 780 households, according to the most recent figures available. The town is quite small, spanning just 1.57 square miles, with much of that land being waterfront property. In fact, Windermere is situated on the shores of a chain of Florida lakes, which has made the town’s real estate very sought after.
The Windermere real estate market’s average prices are driven up somewhat by the presence of several very prominent gated communities, including the Bay Hill, Butler Bay, and Isleworth gated communities, which are collectively home to many celebrities and athletes.
Windermere is also home to some prominent golf courses, which have hosted PGA tournaments. This has made this small town especially popular amongst golfers, including Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer, both of whom have owned local properties.
Windermere real estate prices are actually a fair bit higher than those found in nearby Florida communities due to the fairly high percentage of luxury homes.
According to Windermere home value data found on Zillow, median sale prices came in at $405,000 in July 2016, which is on par with the median sale prices shortly before the 2009 real estate market crash. In the past year, real estate prices in this community have increased by 2.6%.
According to Zillow’s figures, Windermere real estate values are expected to see an increase by 3.7% over the next 12 months. This would place the median home price at $419,000 in July 2017.
Historically, median Windermere home values reached a peak in February 2007, hitting a high of $543,000. After this timeframe, values took a sharp drop, bottoming out at $304,000 in January 2012. Windermere’s real estate values have been on a steady increase since then, which is good news for anyone who’s seeking to build a new home in this community.
