North Lakeland Community Information
As the name suggests, North Lakeland is located in the northern part of the city of Lakeland. Though there are no official borders, residents of Lakeland deem the portion of the city north of Downtown as North Lakeland, and many residents suggest the cultural differences between North and South Lakeland are quite noticeable. North Lakeland is known for its homebody feel, and this is due to the history of the land and how North Lakeland is where the pioneers initially settled before Polk County was even established. Another unique quality about North Lakeland is that there is a multitude of unincorporated but prominent communities including Providence, Socrum, Gibsonia, and many more.
Things To Do In North Lakeland
North Lakeland is full of excitement and fun for every member of the family. Most notably, North Lakeland offers access to Lake Gibson, with amenities including, canoe and kayak launches, with a separate area exclusively for canoes, as Lake Gibson does not allow motor boats. Another popular park in the area is Lake Crago Park. Located near State Road 33, Lake Crago Park includes an off-leash dog park, where the family pets can roam free. There are even showers for the dogs in case they get dirty while playing. For fans of golf, North Lakeland is home to Wedgewood Golf & Country Club. Designed by the famous golf architect Ron Garl, Wedgewood offers beautiful scenery and a challenging course for players of all levels.
Also located in North Lakeland is the Lakeland Motorsports Park. The name may suggest this is a park, but it is, in fact, a venue for all kinds of motorsports events including drag racing, swap meets, and much more. Lakeland Motorsports Park is also home to the “World’s Fastest 1/8 mile.” Another Lakeland favorite is the annual SUN ‘n FUN Fly-In, a renowned airshow for all fans of aviation.
In addition to what North Lakeland has to offer, the city is centrally located between Tampa and Orlando, making attractions like LEGOLAND Florida, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, The Florida Aquarium, Sea World, Universal Studios, and Walt Disney World only a short drive away.

North Lakeland is home to some of the best shopping venues Lakeland has to offer. Located on US Hwy 98 is the Lakeland Square Mall, which has several major stores including JCPenney, Macy’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Champs Sports, as well as a Cinemark Movie Theater. There are even some more unique offerings like the Nestle Tollhouse Café and Yankee Candle, to name a few.
