If you are not familiar with the building process, it can seem like a rather complex and tedious process. However, here at Hulbert Homes we will guide you through every step along the way.

Step One: Setting Your Budget

The first step in the custom home building process is determining a detailed budget. Once the budget is determined, everything else follows suit. However, the only thing that can affect your budget is the fair market value of the home that you are contemplating to build. The first item we will review is the land. Since this is the single most important part of the budget, the land usually ends up being close to ½ or ¼ of the full cost of the home building process. When purchased, the land will be cleared and developed to await construction of your new custom home.

Step Two: Design and Discovery

During the design and the discovery phase of your custom home to be, our team will collaborate with you and work to ensure that they bring your vision to life. The role of the designer is to translate the custom home ideas of the customer into paper so that it can be understood by the professionals in the field. This allows the designs to be completed in a matter of weeks as opposed to months,while eliminating the extra cost of an architect or other design professional.

Step Three: Pre-Construction

During the pre-construction phase, the team at Hulbert Homes will work with you and guide you through the selections process. At the same time, you will also be expected to meet with the supply partners to ensure that you have shopped for the allowance based items. The builder will have the total responsibility of selecting the suppliers and subcontractors that will work with the builder to meet the client’s specifications.

Step Four: Construction

This is probably the most eagerly awaited stage in the custom home building process. Throughout this particular stage, we will make sure that you are updated with the progress of your custom home. This is achieved by conducting on-site meetings that will occur on a regular basis. However, there are some variations that could affect the timeline of the building process. For example, how long the home takes to be completed depends on if developing the land is more difficult than expected, the complexity of the home structure, the size of the house itself, and the finishing that will constructed into the home. As a normal protocol, Hulbert Homes will be sure to provide tentative completion dates per parameter.

Step Five: Warranty and Beyond

At Hulbert Homes, we have a warranty unlike no other and is twice the normal standard. Every client who builds a custom home with us will receive a 2-year warranty. Basically, if a problem arises due to any workmanship issues, we guarantee the problem will be corrected. No questions asked!
